Venus and Serena Williams joined Social Trading App Shares as shareholders and brand ambassadors

Shares.io, the first social and investing app from Europe, has recently announced tennis legends Serena Williams and Venus Williams as the company’s first Brand Ambassadors, via their official Twitter handle (@shares_io).

The announcement came along with the news that the European social trading app has raised fresh capital from the William sisters. This latest funding was raised on October 6, 2022, bagging the iconic champion sisters as shareholders and as brand ambassadors.

The Paris-based social investment app has raised a total of over USD $90 million in funding over four rounds. In August 2021, it raised USD $10 million in a pre-product seed round, led by European venture firm “Singular”.

Then, on March 3, 2022, the share-trading app secured $40 million in a Series A funding round, led by Valar Ventures, a NY-based capital firm run by PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel. Then a few months later, in July 2022, Shares.io closed a $40 million Series B funding round led again by Valar Ventures.

The amount of this fourth funding round by William Sisters is still unknown, but one thing is certain: the social and community-based investment app will skyrocket in popularity after landing the legendary tennis player as brand ambassador.
