Early Life
Amanda Cassatt was born “Amanda Claire Gutterman” on March 12, 1991, in Washington, D.C. and is the only child of her parent. Her mother “Deborah C. Gutterman” is a Rye Brook Village, NY native and worked as a neuroscientist (retd.) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland, just 10 miles from the center of Washington, DC. Her late Father “Peter Andrew Gutterman” was also an NYC native who worked as a computer scientist for 28 years in the IT department of the “World Bank” in Washington.
Amanda completed her High school education at National Cathedral School (NCS) for girls in Washington, D.C., United States. She was the second-highest-ranked graduate of the entire NCS graduating class of 2009. She then enrolled in “B.A. – English Language and Literature” course at Columbia University, a private Ivy League university in NYC. She graduated (with distinction) from the University with the class of 2013.
On July 20, 2019, Amanda Gutterman tied the knot with “Samuel Lee Cassatt” at Beringer Vineyards in St. Helena, California. Her Husband – Sam Cassatt is the former CSO at Consensys and currently works as a founding managing partner at his blockchain-oriented venture fund “Aligned Capital”.

During her undergraduate course, Amanda has worked as an intern at various prestigious organizations, like PEN America (Jan 2011 – May 2011), Publishing house W. W. Norton & Company (May 2011 – Aug 2011) and the New Yorker (Jun 2010 – Aug 2012).
After graduation, she started working as an editorial assistant at Brooklyn, New York based magazine “n+1 Foundation”. She worked there for four months from September 2012 to December 2012. As a native French speaker, she contributed to the French translations published in print.
From November 2013 to May 2015, Amanda worked as “Associate special projects editor” at Manhattan-based “The Huffington Post”. She left the job in May 2015 to be the Editorial Director at “Mobli Media”, a social mobile photo and video-sharing website that shut down in 2016.
