Education

Arianna Simpson was born and grew up in Milan, Italy and completed her International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma program from American School of Milan, Italy. She then moved back to the states and completed her graduation from the Pennsylvania State University.

She holds a B.A. (bachelor’s of Arts) degree in International Politics and Spanish and was part of Schreyer Honors College (SHC) at Penn State. She was the Chief Copy Editor for Onwardstate.com – a Penn State’s blog and Co-founder and Exective Editor of the “Penn State Journal of International Affairs”, amongst her many accomplishments at the university.

Career

Being grew up going back and forth between Italy and the U.S, Arianna was quite a fashionista herself. So, right after her college, she rode her motorcycle from Pennsylvania to New York City to meet “Olga Vidisheva” – Founder & CEO of “Shoptiques” – only a startup at that time.

The startup has just begin in spring of 2012 and was only a 10 member team but Arianna impressed them and was made director of boutique operations. Her job role at Shoptiques was to grow customer base through marketing, managing partner boutiques and even fulfill delivery service on occasions.

From November 2013 to July 2014, Arianna worked as a “Client Solutions Manager” for Facebook in New York. While working in Facebook, she got an opportunity to visit Namibia and Zimbabwe and it is there the seed for involvement in crypto space were sown.

After witnessing the effects of hyperinflation in Zimbabwe, Arianna did an extensive research into the topic, which led to Cryptocurrency. After reading the Bitcoin’s white paper, she knew in which direction she have to steer her career.

Blockchain Journey

Still in her early twenties, Arianna Simpson left her job at Facebook and joined “BitGo” – still a startup in multi-signature bitcoin wallet service. She worked at BitGo for a year from 2014 to 2015, before launching her own venture capital firm “Crystal Towers Capital”, at the age of 24.

The Venture Capital Fund is an early-stage fund investing primarily in YC companies and is based out of Mountain View, California. Arianna Simpson is still an active angel investor and a Venture Partner at Crystal Towers Capital.

She then founded her second firm “Autonomous Partners” – an investment fund focused on cryptocurrencies and digital assets. Arianna is the managing director at Autonomous Partners and has backed Celo coin during the early 2018 bearish market, a fruitful investment.

In July 2020, Arianna joined “Andreessen Horowitz” – an American venture capital firm, as a deal partner. And a year later in July 2021, she was promoted to general partner, where she was responsible for deploying the firm’s $2.2 billion cryptocurrency fund.
